How can I import media from the Sony XD-CAM into my Bogart OS editor

Here are two posts from Carroll Lam who has a Sony XD-CAM... how he has imported footage into his Casablanca Next Generation Editor (running Bogart SE OS):

QUESTION: Will the new Bogart OS for XDCAM work for the EX-1?

Yes, it does.  You can input the video in several ways.  If it is SP mode you can, of course, input it via Firewire.  All modes can be input to the Media Manager via USB from the SxS cards in the camera.  You can also write the BPAV folder from the SxS cards to a DVD using a Mac or PC and read that into Media Manager.  You can then import the video into the edit bin from the Media Manager.

If there are any Sony XDCAM HD (for example the PDW-F330/350/355) users out there I have determined a way to get such video into Gen III Cassies for editing.

It requires a two stage process.  First the .xmf files that the cameras record to their disc must be converted to .mov files.  I personally do this on the Mac using the application "XDCAM Transfer" which imports the files to the Mac and simultaneously converts the files to .mov format.  I'm pretty sure there's an equivalent process for the pc.

After the file type conversion the files are recorded to either a USB hard drive or thumb drive and then they are imported into Media Manager on the Cassie and thence into the edit bin.

So far, I have been _unable_ to import the files directly into the edit bin Record screen.  The import process flashes but nothing is recorded into the edit bin.

The video imported into the edit bin via Media Manager looks great on playback.
