Where to go for Help with your CasablancaAs you may know The Cassie Tips List, started by Carroll Lam back in the early days of the Casablanca Classic has closed. This online List-serv was started and maintained by Carroll Lam. Carroll continues to serve as one of Macrosystem Americas' resellers (dealers) - you can find all current dealers listed here.
Carroll remains a dealer and the only reason the Cassie Tips List has closed is that the software that ran the service is no longer supported. I wanted to take this opportunity to share thoughts about where you can and should go for help with your Casablanca .
I have an article below with some thoughts to help all of use find the right help we need - whether it's tech support, how to help, or community.
For starters I beleive it is important for you to distinguish between these and what you are needing most.
I list several relevant options for each of these kinds of resources/services below.
TECH SUPPORT
With the Casablanca Expert website, webinars, online classes I provide expert training and instruction on the Casablanca editor.I do not provide repair or tech-support services, I leave that to people with the proper resources. Here are two avenues I would recommend for Tech Support assistance with your Casablanca editor:
NOTE: You may also find support by reading prevoius posts or posting a new question or issue in either the Casablanca Forum or the Macrosystem Support Forum (both included in the Community section below)
INSTRUCTION (How To Help)
With the largest number of articles, tips, videos and webinars all designed to help people get the most from your Casablanca Video Editor - CasablancaExpert.com is a membership (subscription) website. For $10/month you have access to more than 800 articles and monthly webinars with Chet Davis (The Casablanca Expert).
https://casablanca-expert.mykajabi.com You have immediate access to online classes from Chet Davis - The Casablanca Expert with this web portal. With lifetime access to your class, you can learn and practice on your Cassie - then come back in an hour or a week to learn something new (or refresh/review a great lesson).
COMMUNITY With the closing of the Cassie Tips List you may be looking for a new "place" to hang-out with like minded video colleagues. Here are some suggestions:
Casablanca Forum (sponsored by Macrosystem Americas) Anyone can read but to post you need to join the forum - no cost or obligation, just sign-up
Macrosystem Support Forum (sponsored by MacroMotion DE) http://www.macrosystem.ch/forum/
Casablanca Expert Facebook Page (Hosted by yours truly) https://www.facebook.com/CasablancaExpert I post articles and tips, and any Casablanca colleague can post questions related to Casablanca and video production.
Casablanca Expert Facebook Page (hosted by Casablanca dealer Ultima Photography & Video) https://www.facebook.com/groups/67818961997
In closing I have a few more thoughts...
In other words, give as you receive - to benefit from quality instruction & training you should consider an investment like the annual membership at CasablancaExpert.com. If it's Tech Support you may have to pay for that. If you're part of a community - don't wait for other people to start a conversation start a post yourself, share a video or an article or a technique.
If you ask someone for assistance, especially on a forum or via email, etc print out their reply or tip. Make an effort yourself to keep track of great tips and step by step instructions (either in a binder of print outs you keep near your Casablanca or in an online folder, on your computer or Dropbox, etc). NOTE: If you're a CasablancaExpert member - subscriber you have permanent access to these articles online - but you might bookmark (or you can print out) your favorites.
If you have an emergency, a client is expecting a video in two days and you’re having hardware problems - don’t just post a question on a public forum and then post a follow-up in 4 hours if no one answers. If you have an immediate need, then take appropriate action. Sometimes a Good Samaritan will come to your aide, but maybe they’re not on their computer or mobile phone. Maybe they are busy with their own project. If it’s urgent contact a Support resource - or if you have a relationship, send an email or message a friend for assistance.
